We've Hit the Ground Running!

School started a couple weeks ago and we are moving at full speed!  We started off this month by playing board games in the residence halls as the students moved in.  That way, we talked with every freshman that came through the doors on those nights.  Quite a few of them came back and are now involved in our small groups!

My small group (also known as a core, because it's the core of the ministry), started meeting two weeks ago.  The students that showed up were a mix of freshman we met that first week, international students who have been in the US just a few weeks, students who were involved in our ministry last year and a few girls who brought friends.  After knowing each other for only two weeks, these girls are already making meals for the sick members of the group and studying the Bible together.  I'm so proud of them and super excited for everything that God is going to do with and through us!

Our large group meetings also started two weeks ago and it's amazing to see a couple hundred college students give up their Friday night to worship God.  I'm super blessed that I get to be a part of this.

I have a couple prayer requests for this month.  First, please pray for the sweet girls that have gotten to come to our core.  I would love it if every one of these girls got to know God better through this group and developed close friendships. 

Secondly. please pray for anyone on campus who still feels lonely.  On a campus of over 25,000 students, I know we have not been able to reach all of them, and I know that the first few months of college can be a tough time.  So please pray that anyone who does not yet have friends will find Christian community with people who love them.

    What a sweet group of young ladies you have there! I am encouraged to see what God is doing at UTD, and I pray for all the students on all our campuses who are feeling lonely and lost. It is so easy to feel overlooked, but I know that FOCUS people are there searching for people who need friends and Christian community.

June Update!

We're officially done with the apprenticeship! It's pretty crazy, but I'm super excited to see what God does with us all next year. We did something new this year. While half of our staff was at May SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry - the week long conference in Washington state), we hosted a Bible boot camp. Here, the students spent an entire week, 9-6 from Monday til Friday, reading and discussing the Old Testament. It was so neat! There were about 11 UTD students who showed up consistently throughout the week, and at the end of it, we had a lunch together and celebrated our new Biblical literacy. We hope to actually do another one in July with the New Testament, so I would love prayer that students continue to show up and that God blesses it! April updates

Another month has come and gone, and we're almost finished with the school year! It's crazy to me how fast it's flown by. This month, I wanted to ask you to pray for some of the girls in my core. I won't share their names, but I would love it if you could take the time to pray for them individually. The first girl has been a consistent figure in our core all year. She is super friendly and has made an effort to get a lot more involved in the broader FOCUS community this year. Unfortunately, she's really been struggling with depression and anxiety and at times, it's really hindered her ability to be involved. I'd love prayer that God just completely takes away that burden from her. The second one is studying Focus on Jesus (our one-on-one Bible study) with me. She asks great questions and is amazingly teachable, and we're almost finished with the study! She has also been super faithful in coming to core, but is learning how to balance spending time wi

Final ministry update!

My ministry update this month comes both in a video and written format. They essentially say the same thing so take your pick. I wanted to save this update for later, because it's my very last one. I've got two weeks left with FOCUS, and then I'm heading off to grad school in the fall! Thank you guys so much for the prayers and support over the last two years. It's been amazing.
