August Update

Hi all! We're wrapping up summer projects and getting ready for school to start in a couple weeks. If you haven't gotten an update from me before, I probably added you during the summer at some point when we were talking about fundraising. But I just wanted to let you all know what's going on.

One of the big events during the summer was SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry), our student leadership training conference in Washington state. We had two different teams go this year, one in May and one in June. I went with the Collin College, Richland College and SMU students in June. It was a pretty neat experience.

The students spent most days listening to and participating in talks on all sorts of subjects, from how to be a spiritual friend, to how to lead a small group, to personal relationships with God, to a Bible study on the book of Philemon. Then in the middle of the week, they got to go out to the college campuses up in Seattle and surrounding areas, walk up to people, talk to them about God and pray for them. Over the week, I saw a lot of growth in the girls I stayed with especially, and most of them will be leading small groups this fall!

The next thing I wanted to update you on is just fundraising. I am really grateful for all the incredibly supportive people God has put in my life and I wanted to say thank you so much to all of you. It was surprisingly easy to raise as much as I have and I can't tell you how many of you just blew me away with your generosity. I hope God really blesses you as much as he's blessed me.

That said, I'm still have a little bit to go ($400/month) in order to reach my final goal. So if you know of anyone who might be willing, or if you yourselves are interested in helping out more with that, I would be super grateful if you could reach out to me. But like I said, God has really blessed me and it's pretty clear what a supportive community I've been part of my whole life and I know he will continue to provide.

Finally, as we get ready to head into the year, our Collin staff has a retreat where we really developed relationships with each other and spent some time reading about how to be a good minister (We all together read the book "In the Name of Jesus" by Henri Nouwen). I am super excited to be a part of this team. Everyone has been sweet and welcoming as I transition onto this staff from UTD, and they all clearly have a heart for God and really love these students.

The Collin staff: Garrett, Cody, Pedro, Austin, Mark, Danielle, Jacy, Adrianna and me!

I wanted to leave you with two prayer requests:
1. That everyone on our staff gets to 100% support, or at least enough support to be able to do this full time without having to get another part time job or putting too much burden on anyone else.

2. That we meet the students we are supposed to meet in these upcoming weeks. It's pretty crucial that we meet people early on, because the longer we wait, the more likely that they will have other commitments and will not want to add something else.

Thank you all so much for the support and prayers. I love all of you and I'm grateful!
