Fall is Finally Here!

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year.  With this beautiful weather, I've gotten to spend a lot more time outside talking to God.  One of the biggest things I've realized is just how grateful I am to be here doing ministry.  College is full of students with open hearts ready to receive Jesus, so thank you so much for your support as we reach out to them.

The biggest event this month was our annual Fall Camp. The whole UTD FOCUS community drove an hour away to hang out for roughly 24 hours together.  We worshiped, listened to talks about the importance of community, played sports, did crafts, and had a spontaneous dance party!  Seven girls from my core came, and we all got to know each other a lot better and shared about each of our experience in Christian community.  I'm really grateful that each of them is a part of my life.

One thing we've really been focusing on this year is outreach. This past week, we did a display in the middle of campus centered on happiness/fulfillment.  There was a Princeton Review study that caught our attention (details in the picture below).  We were pretty surprised by it and figured it would be a good conversation starter.  For a few hours on Tuesday and Wednesday last week, we stood in the middle of campus along with students from our ministry and talked about this with other students who walked past.  I had some amazing conversations about how Jesus has changed my life.  A few students were even interested in continuing the conversations and will be coming to some of our small groups next week!

Outreach in action

In response to this, we asked the students what their experience has been at college and they put stickers next to the corresponding facial expression.

To respond to this one, students wrote on the board what makes them happy.

In responding to this one, we asked people, "How do you think religion affects people's happiness?"

I have two prayer requests this month.
One is for our continued outreach.  We might change up the topic or the displays, but we will be doing something every week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the rest of the semester.  Please pray that we get our name out there and make an impact on students we couldn't reach otherwise.

Secondly, please pray for the one-on-one Bible studies within my core.  I'm studying with four girls personally and the rest of the girls are paired up with one another.  I am hoping that everyone comes away with a new close friend and better knowledge of God.

As always, thank you all for your support and prayers!
